The next museum that I visited was The LightHouse, it is a very modern museum and didn’t have as much art or design as the Kelvingrove but it was still an experience to go and see, and I did mange to find some favourites for my blog.

Lighthouse

There was a room full of graphic posters, which were all very interesting to look at some had meaning, others didn’t; some were appropriate, others…not so much. As crazy as it sounds, it was really nice to walk into a room and to look at posters and not have to find a meaning behind it, to see art that was funny and relatable.

You could appreciate the posters for what they were, you could make up your own mind as to what they meant, there was no description or artists names for you to look up and learn about. The whole room as up for interpretation which was calming to know.

The next design that I found very interesting and somewhat confusing was the stairs. There was these spiralling stairs that seemed to go on forever that lead up to the very top of the building so you could see the skyline.

Glasgow city

Aside from being a workout these stairs were musical, there were beaters at every landing on the stairs so that people could make musical sound on the metal poles going across the middle. Wether or not that is what they were actually design to do i’m not sure but it gave people the choice to make up their own mind as to what the design was for. I think Glasgow it’s self was the design and the stairs were just part of the design that lead you to Glasgow, you could see the busy city life from the roof top which was very fascinating.

The lighthouse was a modern and interesting museum to visit because I felt they let you decide what the art/designs were for, they were telling you what you should think they are. This trip enable me to thinking more about what I am seeing and made me interact with the pieces.
