Just in time for Halloween
Throughout my course I have been reading and researching articles on design to allow me to expand my knowledge in the “Design world”. This article I found on “The Guardian” I wanted to share on my blog purely because the sheer creativeness of these designers caught my interest straight away.
These two men have started a business in pumpkin carving, for the past 10 years they have been carving pumpkins and not just at halloween time. They carve pieces of art out of these pumpkins, the amount of detail and precision that goes into each creation is incredible. Taking each pumpkin and spending hours scraping and shaping them into a work of art seem difficult enough, but they also have to work within a 24 hour window so that it will be fresh when delivered and not to mention that the pumpkins will only last 2 weeks.
I wanted to zone into this pumpkin in particular because I think the design created on it is so intricate and detailed, that it caught my eye. It’s so beautiful, with the glow of orange standing out against the shaded black. I could spend so long looking at this design because of the amount of detail in it, I notice something new every time.
The reason I wanted to share this article is because the uniqueness of it, art and design can become so repetitive and can sometimes just be boring to look at because it’s nothing you haven’t seen before. But Maniac Pumpkin Carvers have brunched out and taken something that is normal for kids at halloween time and used it to create art.
